sister exposed to T.B.
my sister was exposed to T.B. after a patient she was working with in her physical therapy internship, a man from China, went to the E.R. where I used to work at and was diagnosed with T.B. I don't really think it is that big of a deal because doesn't everyone who work in healthcare test positive for T.B.?my sister will just have to get a chest x-ray, but I don't know if it will affect her for the rest of her life?

actually, I don't know. one website I read said that people who test positive for T.B. and are under age 35 should take drugs for one year to prevent getting the disease later in life (though you can't believe everything you read on the internet) which could develop if given enough time.
also, people are especially vulnerable to the disease if they have AIDS, head or neck cancer, and all sort of other disease, anything that weakens the immune system. but if my sister were to take the antibiotic for a year, it could damage her liver. overall, it's a lose/lose situation to be exposed to T.B., since it could develope later in life, or one could take the drugs *now* and damage their liver.
sometimes I think they don't pay enough in healthcare, given the risks.
